Fire Alarms

All our Fire Alarm Systems are designed and installed to comply with The Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) Fire Alarms Policy and BS5839, the code of practice for system design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire alarm systems.

Our fire alarm systems design and installations comprise one or more of the following elements:

BS5839-1:2002 + A1: 2008 (Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings – Part 1: Code of practice for system design, installation, commissioning and maintenance) and BS5839-6:2004 (Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings – Part 6: Code of practice for the design, installation and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in dwellings) give recommendations for the category of system appropriate to different types of premises. These recommendations are taken as the basis for all system designs.

Fire alarm systems can be designed and installed either as an audible only system or as a monitored remote signalling system for a Fire Brigade response with typical installations ranging from a system comprising one or two detectors in the home through to full systems in HMO’s (homes of multiple occupancy) as well as systems installed within, shops, offices, schools, warehousing, factory’s and garden centres.

Fire alarm systems can be integrated with other systems such as access control to release doors on activation and provide a role call facility as well as smoke cloak systems and door retainers to allow doors to automatically close on activation of the alarm system to contain smoke and heat damage and emergency gas shut off valves.
